SMCL Golden Z Club and SMCL Senior High School Z Club celebrate International Day of Peace

The Saint Michael's College of Laguna (SCML) Golden Z Club and the SMCL Senior High School Z Club, Philippines, hosted a virtual celebration observing the International Day of Peace. All attendees were students that ranged from grade school to university. During the event, the students had both a minute of silence and a minute of noise.

The 2021 theme for the event was Recovering Better for a Sustainable and Equitable World. The clubs did a ring for peace ceremony in honor of the COVID-19 victims and the first responders.

The Saint Michael's College of Laguna Golden Z's club president Jazmin Tan encouraged everyone to spread compassion, kindness and hope in the face of the pandemic.

"Though we are in these extraordinary times, we must continue to live up to the Zontian ideals of promoting peace and unity among all peoples around the world. Just as U.N.'s call, let us work together to be vigilant of external factors that would use the current pandemic to promote discrimination, division or war among men," said Jazmin.

The SMCL Senior High School Z Club's president Yari Palanca posted art cards on social media to promote the message of peace from the Zonta Club of Laguna and other Z club presidents. Former presidents of SMCL Z and Golden Z Clubs from the past 18 years shared their message of peace in a video.
