Zonta Club of Bunbury Inc makes 250 breast cushions for women in need

Members of the Zonta Club of Bunbury Inc, Australia, partnered with their community to produce breast cushions. With about 60 volunteers, a total of 250 cushions were made.

Breast cushions provide protection and comfort to women who have undergone breast surgery, such as a mastectomy. The crescent-shaped cushions are made by Zonta clubs throughout Australia and distributed without charge. The positive feedback from those who have received Zonta cushions are a testament to the comfort and protection they provide. The cushions improve the health and well-being of women at a time when they are most vulnerable.

The club’s service committee chairman, Amanda Whittle, said, “Sadly, we often cannot keep up with the demand for our cushions and were fortunate to receive a community grant from Aqwest (a local community organization) this year, that enabled our club to hold this special production day and invite community members to help us get ahead.”

In Bunbury, cushions are distributed through the McGrath nurses at the South West Health Campus. The club also responds to individual requests. Anyone in need of a breast cushion can contact [email protected].

The club was appreciative of the wonderful support and donations from community members.
