Building Inclusive and Sustainable Cities and Communities UN Civil Society Conference

Pamela Morgan of the Zonta International United Nations Committee recently attended the Building Inclusive and Sustainable Cities and Communities UN Civil Society Conference from 26-27 August in Salt Lake City, Utah.

This international conference focused on methods individuals, governments and entities are employing to implement the Sustainable Development Goals. Pamela represented Zonta International on the “Design, Build, Operate and Program a Community Radio Station For Women, With Women and By Women” panel for which Zonta was a co-sponsor. Her contribution on the use of digital technologies during disaster was specifically in reference to SDG 5.b: Enhance the use of enabling technology, in particular information and communications technology, to promote the empowerment of women. Pamela also represented Zonta International as a mentor for the United Nations Office of Global Affairs for a youth component, and as an invited guest, representing Zonta for the Future China dinner.

Based on her experiences with the myriad women-led organizations who are working to support the SDGs, Pamela "believes that it is vital for Zontians to develop partnerships with these women-led organizations in their regions in order to both expand our network and our impact."
