Providing vocational training to homeless women

The mission of The Women's Home is to build communities that strengthen women and support families as they reclaim their stability. The agency offers housing and community-based support services to help prevent and end homelessness in the Houston, Texas area.

The Women’s Home partnered with the Zonta Club of Houston for help with its Treatment and Transitional Housing Program for women struggling with homelessness and co-occurring disorders. A US$5,000 Zonta International grant provided vocational training supplies to homeless women participating in the Vocational Training Program, a key component of the Treatment and Transitional Housing Program.

Through the Vocational Training Program, The Women’s Home provides its clients with the opportunity to practice the skills they have acquired in managing their mental stability and sobriety while acquiring income and ideally a job with a livable wage and benefits. With Zonta's support, the program served 63 women with varying levels of education and work experience.
