The Zonta Club of Accra, Ghana, has refurbished and handed over the Mothers' Hostel at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) to the management of the hospital.
The Mother’s Hostel at the KBTH is an accommodation facility for mothers who visit the hospital for their health care needs. The hostel has catered for the lodging needs of many women in the country in particular and the West African sub-region as a whole.
Repair work on the hostel cost GH₵20,000 (US$4,386) and included painting, provision of furniture, sanitation facilities and installing television sets. Funding for the project came from proceeds that had accrued from the club’s fundraising activities for its health and education initiatives.
