In an effort to help young girls define themselves and have a stronger sense of self-identity, the Zonta Club of Bad Soden-Kronberg, Germany, hosted its 30th annual "Women's Images" competition.
Students in grade 9 in the Taunus region created portraits of women as a way to promote self-reflection and to start discussions about idols and opportunities for women and girls.
Four schools participated in the competition and 46 images were contributed. A ceremony was held on 24 September to showcase the work.
Judges chose 15 of the images for an exhibition in October at a local venue. One image was awarded a prize for perfection and another for courage. Students also received a gift certificate from a local art supplier. Thirteen of the portraits, or "FrauenBilder
," will be published in the 2018 calendar.
