Keshob Ray, a young individual of Nilphamari JalDhaka District of Bangladesh, has contributed to stopping 168 child marriages in his locality since 2012. Keshob will serve as the brand ambassador to the Zonta Club of Dhaka II, District 25, for upcoming projects focused on ending child marriage in Bangladesh.
In 2007, Keshob’s 15-year-old niece took her own life reportedly because of the pressures she faced related to child marriage. With the sudden death of his niece, Keshob decided to dedicate himself to stopping child marriages in his community.
During this campaign, Keshob introduced ‘Red Cards’ to his village. The cards list the disadvantages to child marriage and are hung on the doors of every house in his neighborhood.
On Zonta Rose Day, members of the Zonta Club of Dhaka II honored him for his enormous support in ending child marriage in Bangladesh.
The club’s board members have decided to visit the main districts and rural areas of Bangladesh with Keshob and start a He For She campaign.
