Coinciding with Toilet-Ek Prem Katha’s international release, the Zonta Club of Kathmandu in Nepal held a charity premiere show for the movie on Friday, 11 August. The movie is a satirical romantic-comedy in support of the Indian governmental campaign to improve the sanitation conditions, with an emphasis on the eradication of open defecation, especially in rural areas.
The Zonta Club of Kathmandu has been active in bringing to light the deprivation Nepali girls attending school have to go through due to the lack of basic sanitation infrastructure at educational institutions.
The club has helped build more than a dozen toilets in schools, and the funds raised from the premiere will go toward building more basic sanitation infrastructures in other parts of the country.
