The Zonta Club of Kyneton Inc, District 23, has established a new service and advocacy initiative in collaboration with a Macedon Ranges Shire benefactor.
To address the increasing need to get elderly women patients to medical appointments, a joint meeting was held at Romsey Neighborhood House between the community transport coordinator, Zonta representative and local benefactor.
It was established that a subsidized volunteer community transport service was needed, as many of the current female drivers were utilizing their own vehicles to provide assisted transport.
A signed declaration of an agreement was made. The benefactor has donated a certified, roadworthy car and $1,000 per annum towards registration and insurance costs.
To facilitate this ongoing project, the Zonta Club of Kyneton Inc will oversee the implementation and evaluation of serviceability and audit expenditure of funds after the vehicle handover.
Romsey Neighborhood House shall provide feedback on project outcomes for a report.
Members of the Zonta Club of Kyneton Inc are pleased to have been able to support this project and are thankful to the benefactor for helping them to enhance their effectiveness in empowering women.
