For the past five years, the Zonta Club of Makati Ayala, District 17, has mentored the Division of Deped Makati Z Club through a variety of forums, symposiums and activities to share Zonta's mission and vision with the students.
This year's Mission of Love 5.0 focused on the importance of mental health and career choices to help the students make informed life choices. The title of the event, #LIFEGOALS was chosen by Z Club officers.
With the increase of suicide and depression among youth faced with a variety of different challenges, Zonta club members asked Jay Fajardo, a renowned speaker in the Philippines on such issues, to give a talk on mental health. The interesting lecture and interactive exchange showed how thirsty the students were for answers to questions on daily life and even their existential value. Members said it was a very progressive forum.
In the afternoon, the students participated in another refreshing talk on career choices with the youngest Rotarian past president in the Philippines. Paolo Sarmiento enlightened the students on the realities and struggles one must face before reaching one's life goals. Sarmiento also shared with the students that with perseverance, determination, discipline and appreciation for whatever one goes through in life, success is not far behind.
As Zontians, the club members said they find out what the local communities need and what the youth yearn for through the very active Z Club. The future belongs to the youth and club members say they want to help to influence them to have a better mindset than what may be currently available to them.
