At Port Macquarie's Charles Sturt University Student Orientation Day on Tuesday 25 February, members of the Zonta Club of Port Macquarie Inc manned a stall to canvass interest in an on-campus student club. Several names were taken and funds are being raised to kick off a student club with a birthing kit assembly project.
Earth Kits will include specially treated plastic components (the plastic bag and sheet) that are biodegradable in both aerobic and anaerobic environments. The compound added to the plastic sheets and bags during the manufacturing process is organic, non-toxic and will not affect the shelf life of the kits.
Fundraising is underway to purchase Earth Kits and organize an assembly day.
