Karin Nordmeyer, president of the Zonta Club of Freiburg-Schauinsland and long standing Council of Europe committee member and chairman, was presented with The Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, recognizing her decades of work advocating for women and girls worldwide.
Karin Nordmeyer has been fighting for decades discrimination of women and girls worldwide. A member of Zonta International since 1970 and engaged in different roles on national as well as international level, she has been advocating for gender equality and for the empowerment of women worldwide. Together with the United Nations and the Council of Europe ,she could advance relevant projects through her profound knowledge and diplomatic skills. She has effectively implemented important women’s policy goals at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. As Chair of UN Women National Committee Germany for twelve years, she is professionally promoting the concerns and goals of UN women’s rights through efficient awareness raising. Karin Nordmeyer is an outstanding ambassador for the UN, for Zonta and for the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. She has given UN Women a distinguished face and has invested her time inexhaustibly.
