On Saturday, 10 December, the 2016 16 Days of Activism and Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women campaign came to a close.
The purpose of the Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women campaign is to raise awareness of and increase actions to end violence against women and girls around the world. Because of our clubs' impressive actions, I am delighted to say that we were successful in doing that this year.
We have been pleased in the variety of activities we have seen – from clubs creating awareness videos to canvassing their towns with signs and fliers, to participating in marches and parades, placing “orange ladies” throughout their communities, arranging panel discussions and more. You can read all of these stories here: www.zontasaysno.com/zontiansinaction.
We are proud to report that members in every continent Zonta has a club in participated in the campaign. So far, we have stories from 23 countries, with 25 districts and our one region involved in activities to end violence against women.
We are still collecting stories, and are hopeful that our numbers will grow even more. If your club has not done so already, please use our online form to report your actions to us.
Thank you to each club, district and member for your hard work and for helping us eradicate violence against women. I look forward to seeing what you come up with next year.
