Yes, men are encouraged to join Zonta clubs. Zonta International recognizes that gender equality is not a women’s issue, but a human rights issue. In 2017, Zonta International announced support for UN Women’s HeForShe campaign. The global campaign aims to mobilize 1 billion men to accelerate the achievement of gender equality. Through innovative online, offline and mobile phone technology, HeForShe identifies and activates men and boys in every city, community and village around the world. 

In order for a club to begin (charter), an existing Zonta club must sponsor it. The new club needs at least 15 members to charter. The chartering club will be responsible for completing formal requests via forms found on My Zonta and must appoint a committee dedicated to the chartering process. Once Zonta International Headquarters has received the formal request, they will send an information kit to the committee chairman with forms for the president to complete and submit to Zonta. The completion of the forms may also involve the club treasurer, as payment will also need to be submitted to officially charter. Questions should be submitted directly tomemberrecords@zonta.org.

Zonta clubs are encouraged to sponsor a Z and/or Golden Z Club with their local schools and universities. More information can be found under My Zonta. Students interested in starting a new Z and/or Golden Z Club should contact their local Zonta club.
