Zonta International Council of Europe Committee releases manual to address anti-gender movement

The Zonta International Council of Europe Committee has released a new advocacy manual titled “The Anti-Gender Movement: Going Backwards in Women’s Rights — What Zontians Should Know,” to provide support for those who want to know more and be prepared for the anti-gender movement that is encountered everywhere in the world. The manual outlines the history of women’s rights, gives basic information of the anti-gender movement, provides concrete support to counteract negative narratives, and encourages Zontians to act.

Zonta International President Salla notes, "Democratic backsliding and the rise of anti-gender narratives threaten not only women’s rights but the very foundations of equality and democracy. This manual provides Zonta members with the knowledge and practical tools needed to respond confidently and constructively to these challenges. Review the explanations of the movement’s history and implications, the practical counterarguments to common anti-feminist narratives, and the suggested actions for clubs and members. These resources strengthen our advocacy and help us remain steadfast in promoting gender equality worldwide. I encourage all District and Country Advocacy Leaders, UN Chairs, and Committee Chairs to share this manual widely and integrate its guidance into their work. Together, we can ensure that Zonta continues to be a strong voice for women’s rights and democratic resilience."
