A message of hope for International Day of the Girl 2024

Girls hear enough about how they should fit in. How about telling them that they are enough?

We are changing the narrative this International Day of the Girl, 11 October.

We asked our members what they heard as a child that had a lasting impact. Then we asked, what did they wish they had been told instead.

The response was more than we could have imagined.

From every region of the globe, members shared messages of what they were told as children, showing that these negative words have a lingering effect no matter what generation, background or community we are from. 

It's time we watch what we say to future generations and instead give them hope.

We thank every member who submitted a video. Due to the amazing response, we were unable to include every submission by International Day of the Girl. While we are no longer accepting submissions, we hope that every person uses today to make a positive impact on the children in their lives.
