A passionate activist dedicated to ending child marriages, Hadiqa Bashir was ten years old when her grandmother sought to marry her off. Having witnessed the hardships faced by her classmate, who was married at a young age against their will, she stood firm against the same fate. With support from her uncle, Erfaan Hussein, she successfully avoided the marriage. Since then, Hadiqa has been tirelessly working in her community to help eradicate child marriages.
Hadiqa met with Lynne Foley OAM, host of the Remarkable Women, Powerful Stories podcast, for a conversation about seizing control of her own destiny and inspiring others with her story to end child marriages. Watch the video below to learn why Hadiqa is a remarkable woman!
