Shonda Rushing was born in Jackson, Mississippi, and attended Tougaloo College, located on the grounds of the largest former slave plantation. In her Black History class, she stood beside the actual auction blocks on campus, experiencing a profound connection to our shared history.
At this small private Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), Shonda majored in Psychology to explore the complexities of human behavior and thought patterns. She is the author of two impactful books: Don’t Be Afraid: A Letter to a Black Son and the recently released What If I Win? Additionally, she co-hosts the Road2Damascus podcast and is developing her own show titled Here's the Thing.
Shonda met with Lynne Foley OAM, host of the Remarkable Women, Powerful Stories podcast, to share that no matter where you live, the values you carry with you are what shape your life.
