Zonta International at UNECE Beijing+30 Civil Society Forum
A delegation of 14 Zonta International members from Switzerland, Italy, Austria and Germany, along with four members from the UN Geneva Committee, actively participated in the UNECE Beijing+30 Civil Society Forum held on 19-20 October. The delegation was led by President-Elect Fernanda Gallo-Freshi and ensured Zonta International was not only present but also able to advocate on behalf of women and girls.
The forum highlighted 30 years of progress since the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, emphasizing the need for accelerated gender equality. Zonta’s involvement included speaking engagements and active participation in discussions, underscoring the organization's commitment to advancing women's rights globally.
On 21 October, the Zonta International UN Geneva Committee, represented by members Fabienne and Marinette, organized a visit to the United Nations for 23 Zonta members from Switzerland, France and Germany. During this visit, the group had the pleasure to briefly meet Adriana Quinones outside the UN hall.
The event was a significant success, showcasing Zonta International’s leadership in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.
