Zonta and UNESCO unite in Ivory Coast for International Day of the Girl

On 11 October, Zonta International’s UNESCO Paris team traveled to Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast, to celebrate the 2024 International Day of the Girl. During the visit, the team met with Omar Diop, head of UNESCO’s Abidjan office, to discuss collaborative efforts supporting girls' education and empowerment across the region.

The gathering highlighted the Voice of the Girls (Voix des Filles/ONG/UNESCO), a UNESCO-recognized initiative created in this region of Africa, where Zonta International District 18 clubs are also active. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4, which aims to achieve quality education for all by 2030, the Voice of the Girls project works to form a coalition of international NGOs, UNESCO’s official partners and national NGOs for a unified advocacy project focused on advancing girls’ education and rights.
