Thank you for virtually joining Zontians from all over the world for the 65th Zonta International Convention. Here is a guide for the activities and events that you can participate in to make the most of your Convention experience.
Please note: all times on the Convention app are listed in Central European Summer Time as it is based on the Hamburg, Germany location; however, you can change from event time to local time in the app. Sessions will be recorded and posted in the Convention App. Our goal is to post as soon as possible but this could take up to 24 hours.

April/May
Set up your Convention App profile.
Upload your photo and add the virtual attendee photo frame.
Find other virtual attendees in the “Attendee” list.
Join the conversation by visiting the “Community” tab and select a topic or create a new one.
Select events to add to your personal calendar.
1 June
Workshop for all convention registrants (One session – Time TBD)
3 June
Club Presidents’ Orientation 7:00 AM CEST and 3:00 PM CEST
6 June
Keynote Speaker: Carmen Ortiz-McGhee 3:00 PM CDT
A passionate champion of women, Carmen Ortiz-McGhee is a powerful and authentic voice on the subject of uplifting them, gleaned from years of advocating for and empowering women. From Giving Yourself Grace, to Battling Imposter Syndrome, From Straightening Your Crown to Finding Your Tribe, Carmen takes audiences through a compelling journey of lessons learned and skills honed to elevating all of the women around them.
Now, as Chief Operating Officer of the National Association of Investment Companies (NAIC), the trade association for diverse and women-owned private equity firms and hedge funds, Carmen leads all NAIC programs, initiatives, corporate partnerships and key industry alliances.
7 - 11 June
Attend a district meeting (We will not post district meeting recordings unless the district organizer provides the recording to Zonta Headquarters.) Check the daily agenda on the Convention app for your district time and meeting link. These meetings will take place on a separate platform outside of the app such as Zoom or GoToMeeting. Note, not all districts will hold a virtual meeting.
8-9 June
Speed Networking Session for all convention registrants (Two Sessions – 5:00 PM CEST, 8 June, and 3:00 AM CEST, 9 June) Up to 500 participants can experience the fun of meeting Zontians from other districts and countries. In speed networking, two to four Zontians are placed in a virtual room for five minutes where you can quickly get to know each other. You will switch rooms two more times during this 30-minute session. Be camera ready!
8 June
Speed networking session for Golden Z/Alumnae (One session – 8:00 PM CEST) Similar to the above, this session is specific to the Golden Z/Alumnae attendees.
13-14 June
Delegates Orientation (Two Sessions – 5:00 PM CEST, 13 June, and 3:00 AM CEST, 14 June) This is the essential session for all delegates and alternates, governors and past international presidents to attend to learn about their responsibilities during Convention. This session will review: o Fundamentals of the delegate handbook. o On-site check in process for a delegate or proxy. o Responsibilities when carrying a proxy vote. o Details on elections and the SimplyVoting platform. o Details on voting for convention business (including bylaws) and the handheld voting devices. o An opportunity to ask questions of the elections and credentialing committees.
16 June
International Treasurer’s Report (One session – 9:00 PM CEST) Join this session to hear the financial update from the Zonta International Treasurer/Secretary Mari McKenzie on behalf of the finance and investment committees of Zonta International and the Zonta Foundation for Women. Learn about: o The financial status of the organizations. o Work on the 10-year forecast. o Strategies and updates made to investment accounts. o Revisions made to financial manuals and policies.

Workshop for virtual participants (Multiple sessions - TBD) Virtual attendees will have their own set of workshop sessions to select to attend and discuss. Organizers are investigating the ability to stream from one of the live workshop rooms in Hamburg.
Virtual visit to the Zonta Foundation for Women Booth (One session – 2:30 PM CEST)
Note: Streaming will end at the conclusion of Business Session #3 and before voting for candidates begins.
Note: Sessions on proposed amendments to Zonta International Bylaws and Rules of Procedure, as well as proposed resolution discussion, debate and vote will not be streamed due to the technical nature of the set up and voting. Results will be made available to all attendees as soon as possible.
The Convention App will remain available to Zontains until 28 September.
