Empowering young women to use their voices

Partnering with the Zonta Club of Savannah, Georgia the Rape Crisis Center for the Coastal Empire hosted the Raising Up Girls program (Camp Thrive) for 80 girls.

With a US$5,000 grant from Zonta International, Camp Thrive expanded its volunteer base and raised awareness about sexual assault, consent and empowering young women to use their voices. Volunteers were recruited to facilitate activities, discussions and workshops that helped build self-esteem and empower participants mentally, physically and emotionally.

Camp Thrive activities included fitness classes, discussions with a medical professional, discussions on health relationships and consent, education and tips about human trafficking, learning healthy coping skills, and learning about small businesses and finances.
