DisDistrict 17 Zontians serve their communities in the wake of COVID-19

Despite the hardship and the uncertainty of the fight of COVID-19 worldwide, Zontians in District 17 responded quickly in servicing for the relief of the communities.

Area 1, Philippines

The Zonta Club of Antipolo City distributed relief goods for more than 100 families.

The Zonta Club of Baliuag distributed rice and noodles to 51 marginalized families especially the ones with impoverished women and children.

The Zonta Club of Greater Rizal 1 sent three aero boxes and two bottles of disinfectant to Mayor's office, Cainta for distribution to different hospitals.

The Zonta Club of Pampanga distributed 15 intubation boxes to 10 different hospitals.

Area 2, Hong Kong

The Zonta Club of Hong Kong East donated 5,000 face masks to elderly people living alone.

The Zonta Club of Hong Kong II delivered 43,000 surgical masks to five NGO partners in Hong Kong. These supplies will be distributed to their front-line health workers, and also to the underprivileged community as part of emergency support program.

Area 3, Philippines

The Zonta Club of Cebu I donated the essential items to the frontliners of Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) and Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC). Their donation included thermal scanners, nearly 2,000 masks, coveralls, face shields, gloves, alcohol and more.

The Zonta Club of Cebu II supported the production of over 1,000 personal protective equipment (PPE) in one week. They donated the materials to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) in the BJMP-Mandaue City Female Ward.

The Zonta Club of Iloilo City distributed more than 400 packed meals to the frontliners of the different hospitals in the city and adopted mothers at the Zonta Club Tilipunan Center in Tanza. They also donated materials for reusable masks and produced face shields for workers of multiple hospitals in the city.

The Zonta Club of Tacloban donated supplies such as masks, gloves and sanitizer to frontliners of hospitals.

The Zonta Club of Zamboanga City delivered livelihood supplies to Persons under investigation.

Area 4, Philippines

The Zonta Club of Aparri distributed the items such as alcohol, surgical face masks and vitamins to local frontliners.

The Zonta Club of Baguio offered the use of its building as an isolation building for suspected COVID-19 patients. Club members also arranged a lecture on COVID-19 with Baguio Medical Center.

The Zonta Club of Central Tuguegarao distributed food packs to selected single mothers who are in need of help during this enhanced community quarantine.

The Zonta Club of Ilocos Norte donated 200 face masks to medical and health workers of Bacrra and another 200 face masks to Governor Roque Ablan Sr Memorial Hospital for the use of mothers and families in the Zonta-adopted OB-GYN Ward and pediatric ward.

The Zonta Club of Nueva Vizcaya delivered PPE and masks to health workers administering directly working with suspected COVID-19 patients and delivered food and water to the frontliners of hospitals and policemen stationed in checkpoints.

Zonta Club of Tuguegarao donated relief packs to new mothers and newborns born during this pandemic and distributed food packs and antibacterial materials for health workers, tricycle drivers, street sweepers and others.

Area 5, Philippines

The Zonta Club of Alabang distributed 19,000 food packs and 1,000 kits of toiletries.

The Zonta Club of Fort Bonifacio donated hygiene kits to three hospitals.

The Zonta Club of Laguna donated more than 570 food packs, 4,600 face masks/PPE and cash to beneficiaries since the total lockdown of the city.

The Zonta Club of Las Piñas donated PPE, face shields, alcohol and food packs to various medical centers.

The  Zonta Club of Makati Ayala donated P100,000 (US$2,000) to the Philippine General Hospital Medical Foundation and P50,000 (US$1,000) worth of 100 PPE to the Manila Health Centre in Del Pan, Tondo City of Manila.

The Zonta Club of Makati & Environs donated relief materials worth more than P450,000 (more than US$9,000) to more than 1,00 individuals and 1,300 families in their 19 projects.

The Zonta Club of Makati–Paseo de Roxas gave hygiene kits and food packs worth more than P500,000 (more than US$10,000)  to more than 1,880 individuals.

The Zonta Club of Muntinlupa & Environs donated important goods and cash to six medical centers.

The Zonta Club of Metro Greenhills provided clean food and PPE to the frontliners.

The Zonta Club of Metro Ortigas donated hygiene kits and food packs to medical and non-medical frontliners.

The Zonta Club of Naga & Camarines Sur made cash and in-kind donations to frontliners at the medical centers.

Zonta Club of Pasig Foundation donated 170 PPE and P70,000 (US$1,400) to hospitals. Club members also distributed food packs to homeless individuals.

Area 6, Bangkok

The Zonta Club of Bangkok Club VIII donated hygiene kits and food supply to Ramathibodi Hospital and Phramongkutklao Hospital.

Director Poungthong Anantanasuwong, together with District 17 committee vice chair and Zontians from the Zonta clubs of Bangkok I, Bangkok V, Bangkok IX, Bangkok XI and Khon Khaen donated cash, food and medical equipment worth in total approximately US$50,500 to support doctors and health workers in the fight against COVID-19. Medical equipment such as mobile ventilators, PPE, surgical masks, hand sanitizer, food and cash were donated to various hospitals in Bangkok and other parts of the country, Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute and Ramathibodi Foundation were two of the recipients.
