District 16 holds virtual conference, raising money for Foundation

Zonta members from across New Zealand came together for the recent District 16 Conference hosted by the Zonta Club of Rotorua. The event was virtual, and the 176 attendees learned about advocacy actions locally, nationally and internationally—New Zealand's Minister for Women, the Hon. Jan Tinetti spoke about the NZ Government's legislation program around gender equity and thanked Zonta District 16 for its valued input and submissions on issues impacting women and girls.

During the conference, a panel of young women leaders shared their thoughts on challenges facing women over the next century and how organizations such as Zonta can advocate assisting in meeting those challenges.

Governor Desirae Kirby presented a Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship to Ha Tran, studying at the University of Auckland.

Zonta members were incredibly generous with donations to the Zonta Foundation for Women, donating three times the amount given at the previous New Zealand Conference.
