Zonta Club Kathmandu felicitates Zontian on appointment to Nepal’s Federal Parliament

The Zonta Club Kathmandu, Nepal, recently honored club member Vidushi Rana following her appointment as an Hon’ble Member of the Federal Parliament of Nepal, recognizing her longstanding commitment to leadership, service and private sector development.

Rana was felicitated during the club’s Annual General Meeting on May 31, where incoming President Mridula Rajbhandari and fellow members recognized her new national leadership role. Earlier, during the club’s general meeting on 6 April, Area Director 2 Meera Jyoti, Immediate Past District Governor and member of the Zonta International Advocacy Committee Shreejana Rana, Zonta Club Kathmandu President Bina Rana and members of the board also extended their congratulations and best wishes.

“Vidushi's appointment to Nepal’s Parliament, and subsequently to the Parliamentary Finance Committee, is a source of immense pride for Zonta Club Kathmandu,” said Shreejana Rana. “Her achievement reflects the values that Zonta champions globally - leadership, service, advocacy and the empowerment of women.”

A highly active member of the Zonta Club Kathmandu, Vidushi Rana has contributed to numerous service and advocacy initiatives focused on women’s rights, gender equality and community awareness. As chair of the club’s Violence Against Women Committee, she led the 2022 Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women campaign, overseeing public awareness efforts that included short films, street plays, community discussions and social media outreach.

Club leaders noted that Rana’s experience as a successful entrepreneur, combined with her dedication to service and advocacy, positions her to make meaningful contributions to Nepal’s continued development. They expressed confidence that her leadership will help advance a more inclusive, equitable and prosperous society while supporting the shared vision of building a better world for women and girls.
