The Zonta Club of Fort Collins Curated A Museum Exhibit to Celebrate IWD

The Zonta Club of Fort Collins curated a museum exhibit titled: Inspirational Women - Rising through Adversity to celebrate 100 years of women's advocacy in honor of Zonta International. The Global Village Museum in Fort Collins, Colorado hosted the gallery exhibit which shared stories and photos of over 27 women around the globe who had experienced adversity and gave back or are currently giving back to improve women's lives.

Zontians, Marian Deforest, Amelia Earhart, and Amey Grubs were featured. Also, of note in the exhibit was a Nobel Prize winner, Leymah Gbowe of Liberia; Right Livelihood Award winner Dekha Ibrahim Abdi; and many Suffragettes in America and UK who fought for women's right to vote.

They were two girls featured as well who currently are giving back in their hometowns; Sophie Cruz is standing up for undocumented parents of American born children and Little Miss Flint (Marie Copeney) has stood up for clean drinking water in her town of Flint, Michigan.

From October 2019 through February 2020 the museum recorded over 1300 visitors with many taking extra time to read the compelling stories of the women, the women's peace party, and the early beginnings of Zonta. The newspaper articles about the event are here
