Zonta Club of New Territories Supporting Underprivileged Families In Hong Kong Amid COVID-19

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on low-income families in Hong Kong, Zonta Club of the New Territories, through its Charitable Trust, has donated HKD 120,000 to underprivileged families in Tin Shui Wai North. The Club distributed mask packs consisting of a total of 6,000 adult face masks and 6,000 children face masks to families in Tin Shui Wai North.

This initiative was carried out through our project partner, the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Jockey, and the Tin Shui Wai Integrated Services Centre, as part of Tung Wah Tin Shui Wai Covid-19 Emergency Fund Project.

The dual-approach support from Zonta Club of the New Territories in aimed at strengthening support for low-income individuals and families in Tin Shui North area during the epidemic included:
• Cash support to families affected by the epidemic: To each family, HKD 200 in urgent cash support for the purchase of daily necessities and food, and to ride through this difficult time through loving support, benefiting a total of 600 family units
• Provide "Epidemic Mask Packs" for the grassroots families, each pack containing Adult masks X 10 (support parents to be able to go out to work or handle daily affairs) and Child mask X 10 (support to go out when necessary, such as returning to school to receive homework), totaling 12,000 masks

On 9th May 2020, the president and service committee, as well as members from the Zonta Club of the New Territories visited the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Jockey and the Tin Shui Wai Integrated Services Centre. 

A check donation together with the center visit was conducted, the Club was warmly welcomed and received, and we wish to thank the wonderful staff of the Centre for their hard work and dedication.
