Zonta Club of Alytus celebrates International Women's Day with different shoes

The Zonta Club of Alytus, Lithuania, joined the European Soroptimist Union's call to wear different shoes on International Women's Day to draw attention to gender inequalities in everyday life.

The purpose of wearing different shoes is to make the statement: "differences make you think, listen and see." It also asks poignant questions like, "Is wearing different shoes worse than the same shoes? Do different shoes mean to have fewer opportunities? Can their social and civil rights be lower because of that?"

Although there is still much work to do to make gender equality a reality, the club is hopeful for the future.

The club also participated in the Lions Women's Club of Alytus charity evening. All the funds raised during the event will go towards helping children overcome the challenges of developmental disabilities.
