Zonta Club of Alytus empowers their community through knowledge and education
The Zonta Club of Alytus, Lithuania, organized different initiatives to promote education and knowledge in their community.
The club held an online auction to raise tuition funds for seven children studying at the Alytus Music School. The funds raised will help pay for the students' tuition for 13 months. The club also received wireless headphones for the students' use.
On 14 February, the club participated in International Book Giving Day by gifting books to the Alytus Jurgis Kunčinas Public Library.
Bringing music to the elderly
The club collaborated with the Alytus Music School, Audrone Venckūnienė, a method teacher, and Jolanta Saboniene, an expert teacher, to bring music to the elderly at Alytus Medical Rehabilitation and Sports Centre. Attendees were treated to Lithuanian music and had the opportunity to touch and get acquainted with various musical instruments.
Since Lithuania's Independence Day was the next day, the club decorated the room with colors of the flag.
The club received a nomination at the Alytus Award for its social initiatives to help those in the community.
