Zonta Club of Central Tuguegarao ushers in new Biennium with new roster of service projects

The Zonta Club of Central Tuguegarao, Philippines, is excited to usher in the 2022-2024 Biennium. The club gathered online at its June general membership meeting to share insights and discuss new service projects that its committees propose. Not only were the club members excited at the prospect these new projects would bring, but it also re-ignited their commitment to the continuity of existing successful undertakings from the previous Biennium.

One of the most notable projects that the club is planning to continue through its Advocacy Committee is its online show, "All About Eve." "All About Eve" is a monthly series of lectures on different Filipino laws that support and empower women.

The Fundraising Committee decided to open up more opportunities to showcase the various projects and products of Padday ni Yena (Made by Mother). Padday ni Yena is a livelihood initiative for mothers in Cagayan and helps empower them through crochet crafts. The club would post their crafted goods online and on other marketing initiatives such as Tienda ni Yena, where items from different projects are also sold.

The Membership Committee is committed to strengthening and igniting more engagement from its members by conducting more in-person activities as COVID-19 restrictions relax in the country. They also plan to do more out-of-town fellowship events, run more experimental events, plan a team-building exercise with the Leadership Committee and revitalize the club's new member recruitment process.

The Leadership Committee is planning for the club's team-building event to generate more engagement with members in their participation in the club's activities, especially the most awaited 16 Days of Activism.

Also, the PR Committee proposes creating an Instagram account, planning a steady stream of news articles to share the club's activities on Facebook and Twitter and publishing a bi-annual club newsletter called The Zonta Club of Central Tuguegarao Harbinger. The newsletter will be distributed to different stakeholders in different agencies involving women and children.

The club's Environment Committee plans to continue to take action to build a more Earth-friendly future for humanity by adopting a forest in partnership with local agencies passionate about climate control. They are also planning to partner with plant growers in Penablanca by helping them plant, grow and sell their produce in collaboration with other committees.

The Education Committee proposes to sponsor deserving, under-privileged incoming third-year female students with an educational stipend to augment their expenses in school through a Memorandum of Agreement with the local state-run university.

The Gender and Development Committee wants to highlight its continued contribution to protecting women and children against violence and abuse. As they strengthen their commitment to providing a haven for women and children in difficult circumstances, they are actively partnering with different organizations to create more awareness for their advocacy in the GAD Center of Tuguegarao City.

With this amazing line-up of activities, the club continues to play a significant role in changing the lives of women and children in their families and communities by empowering themselves to be the harbingers of change and impact through the Zontian mission and vision.
