Zonta Club of Melton Inc leads convoy to help locals impacted by recent floods

After hearing about the devastation a flood in Northern New South Wales caused, the Zonta Club of Melton Inc, Australia, donated hay, care packages, toys, books and other necessities for the local families and farmers impacted, especially the women and children.

Through the Aussie Hay Runners, the club delivered 56 trucks of hay to Grafton, New South Wales. The truck convoy was 8.5 kilometers long and traveled more than 1,500 kilometers from Victoria.

"We love helping people," said Club President Bianca Heaney. "It was wonderful to have so many other businesses jump on board and offer donations to make this possible. Most farmers are still struggling in this area, and their stories are heartbreaking"

The club is thankful to those who supported this convoy run:

  • The Rotary Club of Graton.
  • The Country Women's Association (CWA), North Coast group.
  • Jean Hailes for Women's Health.
  • Humphrey Law Socks.
  • DH Steel and many more.

This was the club's second convoy to the region; their first run was back in September.
