Zonta Club of Toronto launches new service initiative

The Zonta Club of Toronto, Canada, recently announced the launch of its newest service initiative – the Orange Bag Project.

Due to COVID-19 regulations, many clubs had to shrink some of their service works, which many members feel is a great part of being a Zontian. The club supported many organizations such as the Food Bank, Women's College Hospital Rape Crisis Centre, Times Change Women's Employment Service, and the White Ribbon campaign during the past year due to generous donations from club members. However, the club members missed the hands-on service and advocacy, so they launched the Orange Bag Project.

The project consists of the club supporting a charitable organization each month by donating products such as feminine hygiene products, soaps and shampoo, diapers and other products as requested by the selected agency. Each month, members will purchase the products, package them in orange bags bearing the club's logo and be responsible for delivery. They would wear orange hats or Zonta Says NO t-shirts during delivery services, depending on the weather.

The club will ask each organization to send a note of thanks as they usually do and post photos on their social media to promote their project – allowing them to promote Zonta to a different audience and perhaps draw new members.
