Culture and community: Culture as a driver of change and development

The Zonta Club of Parma, Italy, celebrated International Women's Day with special guest, Dr. Carla Dini, Secretary General of the Monteparma Foundation. Dr. Carla embodies the values of Zonta Rose Month: Excellence, resilience, and community service.

During the event, discussions highlighted the role of art and culture as powerful tools for community development and social change. Dr. Carla also spoke about her personal journey, emphasizing the importance of balancing education, family and professional responsibilities. She encouraged attendees to remain persistent in pursuing progress, to seize opportunities and to remain resilient in the face of challenges.

The meeting was moderated by Annamaria Ferrari of Gazzetta di Parma and was sponsored by the Municipality of Parma as part of the city’s International Women’s Day initiatives. Civic authorities also delivered institutional greetings during the program.

At the conclusion of the event, Dini was presented with the “Rose Day” prize in recognition of her leadership and her contributions to advancing women’s empowerment and gender equality.
