Handog Breakfast: Bringing Warmth and Hope to Children After Typhoon Uwan

The Zonta Club of Laguna, Philippines, in partnership with the MOB Foundation, conducted a series of outreach activities providing meals and emotional support to children affected by Typhoon Uwan across several locations in San Pedro City.

Through the “Handog Breakfast” initiative, volunteers visited evacuation centers and community sites to serve nutritious meals while offering encouragement and care to young survivors recovering from the storm.

Handog Breakfast begins at Landayan Covered Court

The first stop of the outreach was Landayan Covered Court, where children affected by the typhoon gathered to receive breakfast and participate in activities with volunteers.

The initiative aimed to provide nutritional support and create a safe and uplifting environment where children could feel cared for and supported during the recovery period.

Organizers said the activity also strengthened cooperation between civic organizations and local communities, demonstrating the impact of collective action in responding to emergencies.

Children at Landayan Wek Wek Evacuation Center receive support

The Zonta Club of Laguna and the MOB Foundation also visited the Landayan Wek Wek Evacuation Center, where many families were temporarily staying after the typhoon.

Children at the evacuation center received breakfast and interacted with volunteers, offering moments of comfort and normalcy during displacement. The effort helped ensure that young evacuees had access to healthy meals while fostering a supportive environment during a difficult time.

Outreach continues at San Roque Elementary School

Continuing its relief efforts, the group visited San Roque Elementary School to provide meals and encouragement to children affected by the storm.

Volunteers shared food, conversation and activities with the students, helping create a positive atmosphere while supporting children’s physical and emotional well-being.

Final stop brings meals and comfort to Rosario Evacuation Center

The final stop of the Handog Breakfast outreach was the Rosario Evacuation Center, where children and families displaced by the typhoon received meals and support from volunteers.

Through these visits, the Zonta Club of Laguna and its partners aimed to help children maintain strength and optimism while communities continued recovery efforts.

Organizers said initiatives such as the Handog Breakfast highlight the importance of compassion, collaboration and community engagement in helping families rebuild after disasters.
