Zonta Club of Alytus brings art and kindness to local seniors

Members of the Zonta Club of Alytus, Lithuania, recently visited their longtime friends at the “Gerumo Skraistė” Grandparents’ Garden, delivering heartfelt gifts and creative experiences to the elderly community.

The highlight of the visit was a paper-cutting workshop led by Irena Mažeikienė, a master of the craft and the mother of Zonta member Elvina Narauskienė. As a gift from a Zontian’s family, the session added a personal and artistic touch to the day. Irena’s paper-cut works have been exhibited in Denmark, Norway, Germany and the United States, either as part of exhibitions or as cultural donations from Lithuania. Her workshops have been well received in various communities, and the seniors were no exception—expressing joy and fascination while engaging in the intricate art form.

In addition to the workshop, the Zontians extended invitations to a charity concert titled From Heart to Heart, organized by the LIONS Women’s Club, further connecting the seniors to cultural and community events.

The visit exemplified the club’s ongoing commitment to building intergenerational friendships rooted in kindness, creativity and shared joy. As the Alytus Zonta Club continues its outreach, such moments highlight the power of small acts of care in enriching lives and strengthening community bonds.
