District 31 holds online biennial conference

On 23-24 October, District 31 held their first online biennial conference in Taiwan. Almost 400 Zontians from Taiwan and Mongolia showed up on the first day. Zonta International President Sharon Langenbeck joined the conference as the International Representative.

A video compilation of various club activities, a photo of each club president and a club flag were presented during the opening ceremony. After the video, President Sharon gave a speech to thank the Zontian's great support to improve women's status despite the difficult times. In honor of President Sharon, Governor Vivienne Shen and Foundation Ambassador Chen Ling Lien represented the district to donate 10,000 USD to the Amelia Earhart Fellowship.

Then, the Immigrants Coalition Chair, Ms. Li-Chan Lin, paid special thanks to the district for their Relief Project for New Immigrants, which helped 140 immigrant families.

At the end of the opening ceremony, three nominees of the district Young Women in Public Affairs Awards were introduced. Karen Tsung was announced as the winner and she gave a short speech to express her endeavor to marine conservation and her future goals.

The business section of the conference started in the afternoon. Board members and committee chairs made their reports, respectively. Credential and voting for 2022-2024 board members and nominating members were done through online applications. The session concluded with the introduction of the 2022 Zonta International Convention in Hamburg, Germany.

On 24 October, an exciting activity took place with a dialogue between President Sharon and the Golden Z club presidents. After the Golden Z club presidents' and representatives' presentations, she encouraged the young leaders to continue their efforts in gender equality.

When the meeting ended, Vivienne invited Golden Z clubs to participate in the 2022 International Convention online or in-person.
