Zonta Club of Bunbury Inc celebrates community's achievements on International Women's Day and Rose Day

The Zonta Club of Bunbury Inc, Australia, celebrated International Women's Day and Rose Day with its 29th annual breakfast event. The event raises funds, celebrates women's achievements and publicizes Zonta. Around 200 people attended the event and were treated to an outstanding speaker, Dr. Leigh Straw, who received a standing ovation from the crowd. Leigh is a historian, author and university lecturer.

The club celebrated and publicly acknowledged the five "Hidden Gems" from their community on social media five days before the event. These "Hidden Gems" are inspirational women whose impact and services moved the club. The five women received complimentary tickets to the breakfast event and were presented with a Certificate of Commendation and a yellow rose.

The club also invited its 2023 Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Awardee and presented her award. The club's Service Committee took the opportunity to distribute bookmarks advertising the 2024 YWPA Award to the young women present and collected their contact details.

Ten members of the club's sponsored Z Club – Kingia were at breakfast with their organizing teacher. A pictorial form on the back of placements on the dining table depicted past club projects. This record showed how much the club had spent and the supported projects. The community was also thanked for helping the club to build a better world for women and girls.

A two-page media report in the South Western Times following the breakfast event gave Zonta and the event greater visibility. The feedback has been outstanding, with people wanting to know more about Zonta and Zonta membership.
