Zonta Club of Central Oklahoma sips high tea for a cause

In recognition of International Women's Day and Rose Day, the Zonta Club of Central Oklahoma, USA, held a collective advocacy, service, and membership event, "High Tea with the Z's: A Tea Party for a Cause," to address period poverty.

At the event, the club signed letters to state senators and representatives advocating for legislation to address period poverty. A small group of club members hand-delivered those letters to the Oklahoma State Capitol. They also collected period products and other needed items for a local family justice center and prepared encouraging notes for women and children attending court hearings.

Many guests in attendance sparked an interest in Zonta and its mission. Guest speakers from Period OKC educated us about period poverty in their state and ongoing legislative efforts to address it.
