Zonta Club of Central Tuguegarao empowers local  civil society organizations

In partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 02, the Zonta Club of Central Tuguegarao, Philippines, conducted an online training session for the Capacity Development Program for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Local Development Councils (LDCs) on 9-10 August.

The four-part training session aimed to empower representatives from the Local Government Units (LGUs) and other agencies to facilitate local and regional development. It also targets the participants to:

  • Develop effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Increase knowledge about sustainable development.
  • Boost awareness of LDCs' functions and operations.
  • Encourage active participation in local planning activities.

Former Area Director Mila Catabay-Lauigan and Vice Club President Helga Anne Treasure L. Ayuyang served as speakers for the training. Mila talked about local development, and Helga lectured on the fundamentals of local Planning, Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation (PIME), the Local Development Council, and the CSO Intervention Plan.

Almost 100 participants attended the sessions and were given an opportunity to participate in lectures through various activities, such as group discussions and sharing of reflections.

The club is committed to empowering CSOs within the region, as it partners with various National Government Agencies (NGAs) to implement its programs, services and training.
