Zonta Club of Fort Smith addresses period poverty and more on International Women's Day

In celebration of International Women's Day and Rose Day, the Zonta Club of Fort Smith, USA, held two events to address period poverty.

For the first event, the club celebrated International Women's Day at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith to share with the students their work and mission to ensure women's rights are human rights. They also expressed concern about period poverty, a sentiment the students returned.

The club held its second event at its March meeting. They invited Brenda Jonas from Lotus Intervals to share her organization's critical work in their community to alleviate period poverty. The club helped with stacks of donated feminine hygiene goods they donated and signed a letter to their representatives calling for an end to the sales and usage tax on feminine hygiene products.

The club also honored Rebecca York with its Rose Scholarship.
